Hi! I am Ritu.
Gardening, for me, has never been just about growing food. It’s a ritual that connects me to nature, to myself, and to what really matters. I grew up in Nepal, where every home has a kitchen garden, no matter your background. My grandfather was a farmer, and my dad, though not one by trade carried that same love for the land. Growing food was simply part of our life. It grounded us, fed us, and brought us together.
After moving away and falling into the busyness of school, work, and life, I lost touch with this rhythm. But the moment we bought our first home a decade ago, I planted a garden and it all came back. Now, gardening is how I nourish my family, calm my mind, and stay grounded in wellness.
Through Backyard Nourish, I help other families bring that same rhythm into their own lives, creating space to slow down, grow real food, and foster meaningful connection in a world that's only getting faster and more digital.

Client Reviews
“Ritu did an amazing job helping us design our backyard vegetable garden. We started with raised beds that had a few herbs, tomatoes, basil and marigolds. Ritu took the time to get to know us and understand what we like to eat. She then created a plan that incorporated all of the vegetables we wanted as well as adding flowers that I had not realized would be such beautiful and helpful additions, attracting pollinators, keeping away pests, and creating flowers that we enjoy both in the garden and in our home.
Our vegetable garden used to look empty and basic. Now it looks layered and abundant. Ritu had suggestions for adding vertical dimension and tucking things into nooks and crannies. The overall effect is that the soil is protected and productivity is maximized. On top of the aesthetic value, we eat fresh greens and other veggies out of the garden every day! I highly recommend Ritu’s services.”
— Lisa, Palo Alto “I’ve never had a green thumb, so I reached out to Backyard Nourish. Ritu has been amazing at helping me start my own garden. She has provided more information than the basic details you’d find on your own. Knowledge, tips, and tricks that come from years of experience. I’ve been able harvest cabbage, romaine, tomatoes, even a small leafy herb that tastes like wasabi. I like to add that one to my sashimi. With her help I’ve been able customize my garden and successfully feed myself and my family, which is not just rewarding, but also healthy.”
